good vs evil
THe fighter series
Tonight the storm looked for revenge, but she and her baby sister remained safe from its fury. Her thin body shivered, though cold, she forced herself to control it. Not wanting to wake her sister, Utah clamped her small fingers around the edge of the blanket and pulled it close to them, her last try to entrap all their warmness into a tiny space.
“Utah, where is your sister?” asked her mother. The words floated through the crevices into the empty gymnasium and then moved near her echoing off the walls. Her mother called to Utah from overhead, “Utah, go find your sister.”

Houses settle, boards move. The alarm, triggered by any movement, remained silent.
Her ears hummed with the quietness. No one could be inside. She grabbed the pistol in one hand, and her cell phone in the other. She tapped the top contact and waited to hear the ring. The busy signal thumped in her ear. Shivering, she slid from the sheets to the floor and redialed Jackson’s number. Busy. She moved slowly to the door, pressing her pistol forward.
